Developing a cataract doesn’t mean a permanent loss of vision quality, or having to give up the things you love. Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed cataract surgery in Australia with over 200,000* Australians having the procedure every year. Typically done on an outpatient basis, the natural lens is removed and replaced with what is called an intraocular lens (IOL). The procedure is highly successful and most people regain very good vision.
Bausch + Lomb introduced micro incision cataract surgery (MICS) to the market with its 1.8 mm MICS Phacoemulsification (cataract removal using ultrasound). The advent of MICS Phaco means that surgeons can benefit from Bausch + Lomb's clinical combination: phacoemulsification through a 1.8 mm incision and IOL technology, including a range of Standard IOLs such as the enVista monofocal, the Akreos MICS and AO lenses, and Specialty IOLs such as the Crystalens accommodating and enVista Toric lenses, that can be implanted through an enlarged incision.
